 AUTUMN FAIR

Return to Turmus

I was focused on rebuilding my Oasis of the 7 Palms. Most of the work is complete: the grand gallery has been reconstructed on a much larger scale, as have the palaces, the gardens—complete with pools and towering palms—and the marketplace. I have also built a small villa for guests who may wish to stay or spend the night in comfort and warmth.

I decided to set sail for the North, returning for a brief visit to the new village of Hammersgard, where I maintain an office and a small home. Whenever I travel North, I stop there to stock up on provisions and water before embarking on the long voyage across the Thassa Sea to reach my island.

It is always a joy to encounter the beautiful Nani—a warrior, formerly a Panther—who, since being acknowledged as his daughter by her father, the King of Lindenberg, has turned her attention to trade and the defense of the village whenever the need arises. A message arrived from Lady Carola, a merchant in the city of Turmus, addressed to the members of the Gorean Merchant Association (GMA), announcing that the first Autumn Fair of the year would be held in Turmus. We are now well into autumn; soon, snow will blanket everything, making navigation difficult. Thus, after bidding farewell to everyone—including the lovely Nani—I set off on my journey to Turmus.

The city now wears a different look: the dwellings are more modern and no longer somber, and the old castle has been replaced by a grand new palace atop the hill that overlooks the city. Lady Carola welcomed me warmly and assigned me a spot at the fair, right across from her own display of merchandise. I immediately began setting up my stall, featuring photographs from my newspaper and the Oasis of the Seven Palms. I am now awaiting the inauguration, which will take place later. In the meantime, I have made several sketches of the city and the fair, which I have included below. I hope that all of Gor will have the chance to visit the fair or read the *Gazette of the Moons*—copies are available for free at the fair.

I will write more in the coming days. You will find the program and the photos below; and please remember to visit the great Gallery of the Goreans.
